DUBAI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- A fire that broke out early Wednesday at an under-construction tower near Al Habtoor Grand in Dubai Marina, the United Arab Emirates, was caused by the ignition of materials stored at the site, the project developer said.

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, founder and chairman of Al Habtoor Group, said on social media platform X that the site will be handed over to the relevant authorities once cooling operations are fully completed.

Earlier in the day, Dubai Civil Defense said it received a report of the incident at 7:06 a.m. local time (0306 GMT) and immediately dispatched firefighting teams to the scene.

The authority said the blaze was of medium scale and had been brought under control. No injuries have been reported so far. ■
