LONDON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- China's Olympic champion Liu Shiwen has been re-elected as one of the 10 members of the International Table Tennis Federation Athletes' Commission.
The ITTF announced the results of the election on Thursday, following the conclusion of the election phase on May 4, adding that more than 300 votes were cast in the election for able-bodied athlete representatives.
Liu has served as co-chair of the ITTF Athletes' Commission along with India's Sharath Kamal Achanta from 2022 to 2026. Achanta was also re-elected as the member this time.
Other elected members include Charlotte Carey of Wales, Ghana's Celia Baah Danso, Paul Drinkhall of England, Algeria's Sami Kherouf, Alberto Mino of Ecuador, and Romania's Elizabeta Samara.
The ITTF said the election ensured balanced continental and gender representation across Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe.
Two para table tennis athlete representatives, England's Jack Hunter-Spivey and Tahl Leibovitz of the United States, were also elected to the commission.
Liu was China's winning member in the women's team event at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and was crowned in the singles at the 2019 World Championships in Budapest. ■
