BERLIN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- VfB Stuttgart extended its unbeaten Bundesliga run to six matches with a 3-0 away win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday to strengthen its push for a Champions League place.

Stuttgart moved ahead after surviving an early scare, with goalkeeper Alexander Nubel saving Haris Tabakovic's 13th-minute penalty after Jamie Leweling was penalized for handball.

The visitors took the lead on the half-hour when Nikolas Nartey crossed from the right and Leweling finished from close range after a defensive lapse from Joe Scally.

Stuttgart doubled its advantage in the 68th minute when Chris Fuhrich's inswinging corner caused confusion in the box and Scally turned the ball into his own net.

Substitute Deniz Undav sealed the result six minutes later, receiving a lay-off from Angelo Stiller, turning inside the area and drilling a low shot into the corner.

The win kept Stuttgart fourth on 36 points, level with Hoffenheim but ahead on goal difference, while Monchengladbach stayed 11th.

"We had a penalty against us early on and the game could have gone in a different direction, but in the end, it was a deserved win, big praise to the boys because they stayed focused and showed maturity, and Monchengladbach are an uncomfortable opponent," said Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness.

Elsewhere, Freiburg came from behind to beat Cologne 2-1, with Derry Scherhant and Igor Matanovic scoring.
